News reporting by aidsmap will be restarting next week, under the new stewardship of Terrence Higgins Trust.
As you probably know, in July 2024, the trustees of NAM Publications, publishers of aidsmap.com, decided that the charity was no longer financially sustainable. The trustees sought proposals from other UK charities to take on aidsmap’s assets and maintain access to the website. Following careful consideration and debate, the trustees selected Terrence Higgins Trust as that partner.
In addition, the trustees selected National AIDS Trust to carry forward HIV Lens, which maps the impact of the HIV epidemic on communities across England, in partnership with Watipa and Gilead Sciences. You can read more about the transition here.
Under the stewardship of Terrence Higgins Trust, aidsmap will be continuing its news reporting from international HIV conferences and elsewhere so that expert patients, advocates and clinicians have access to the latest research. We believe that accessible, accurate and independent reporting on HIV science is more important than ever in an age of disinformation.
News reporting will resume with coverage of the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI), being held in San Francisco from 9 to 12 March. Our reporting team from CROI are Keith Alcorn, Gus Cairns, Liz Highleyman, Roger Pebody and Krishen Samuel.
CROI is one of the most important conferences for HIV science and this year we are expecting to hear developments in relation to:
- new antiretrovirals and antibodies to treat HIV
- PrEP for cisgender women
- cardiovascular disease and ageing
- the impact of the Trump administration on global health.
As well as reports published daily on our conference news pages on aidsmap.com, we will be publishing email bulletins summarising the conference’s highlights on Wednesday 12 March, Monday 17 March and Friday 21 March. These bulletins will be in English only.
Importantly, if you would like to receive these bulletins, and any future emails, from aidsmap, you must sign up to a new mailing list at: www.aidsmap.com/subscribe-email-bulletins. This new mailing list will be held by Terrence Higgins Trust.
