There’s been wind, rain, snow, tears, scorpions, police and bugs the size of kittens but our fundraiser Craig has battled them all and come out triumphant as he finally cycled into Vienna last Friday to mark the end of his incredible 21 day journey.
Craig set off on Friday 27th August on what can only be described as an astounding journey, cycling alone from London to Vienna to raise money for NAM and people living and working with HIV. Highlights of his trip have been cycling through stunning scenery with beautiful ravines, rivers, mountains and breathtaking sunsets along the Drau River.
Unfortunately with the highs come the lows and the lowest saw Craig cycling up phenomenally steep and physically gruelling gradients of 23% for hours on nothing more than a glass of orange juice and a breadstick, battling against constant wind the whole way.
After finishing last Friday Craig is now taking a few days well deserved rest and relaxation and has said of the trip:
“I have to say it's been an amazing experience and it’s going to take me a while to register it all, especially climbing the Stelvio. The Stelvio is something I've wanted to do since I heard of it 4 years ago and it didn't disappoint.
Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, I couldn’t have got through it without all those messages of support to spur me on. Thank you”
