The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have
published a short report on the safety of combination therapy in pregnancy.
Studies reported at the 12th World AIDS Conference in Geneva
suggested a link between antiretroviral combinations and premature births and
birth defects, a finding not supported by other research. The CDC recommend that
women receiving combination therapy whilst pregnant should continue, with
"careful, regular monitoring of their pregnancies and for potential
toxicities".
