An editorial in The Lancet describes the problems facing HIV vaccine
researchers, many of which were debated at a recent conference in London. Plans
to test a vaccine made from a live, but ‘reconstructed’ form of HIV are
considered particularly contentious, with some scientists warning its use may
result in disease.
