The 26th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2026) is taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and virtually from 26-31 July. aidsmap is an official scientific media partner for the conference.

The theme for AIDS 2026 is ‘Rethink. Rebuild. Rise’.

“AIDS 2026 is a rallying point for the global response at a time of profound change in the HIV funding landscape, bringing together people living with HIV, researchers, policy makers, healthcare professionals, funders, media and communities – to rethink, rebuild and rise.” AIDS 2026 website.

AIDS 2026 will feature research on:

  • A once-weekly HIV treatment pill, combining islatravir and lenacapavir – phase 3 results will be presented.
  • Protecting the health of gay, bisexual and other men sex with men in hostile climates.
  • New ways to provide PrEP and keep PrEP users engaged.
  • Two more people in HIV remission following stem cell transplants.
  • Undetectable equals Untransmittable (U=U), ten years on.
