Capreomycin (Capastat) is an antibiotic that is active against certain strains of tuberculosis. It is used in combination with other anti-tuberculosis drugs. It is manufactured by Dista.
Capreomycin is injected into a muscle.
Side-effects can include allergic reactions such as rash, shortage of white blood cells, abnormalities in liver function tests, kidney toxicity, hearing loss with tinnitus (whistling noises) and vertigo.
